Background Info
Edward Micas grew up in a large family, the middle child of seven. His family living in the woods, fended for themselves in nearly all regards. In typical frontier fashion, the boys learned hunting, tracking, fishing, and other manual labor while the girls were mostly taught to gather, sew, and perform house hold duties however they too were quite skilled with a bow. Edward took to hunting just as well as the rest of his brothers and became mildly competent with a bow.

Despite most people’s initial thought, Longshot’s nickname does not come from his archery skills. As a boy, he always had a tendency to choose underdogs and low success odds in competitions but still seemed to win just as often as the other boys. Longshot would pick the horse with worse odds to win at the country fair or select a smaller bug when the boys had their tiny insect battles. As he grew older and the stakes grew higher, Micas continued choosing the long shot victories. He would often accept reckless bets and lose just as often as he won. Always good natured about the competition, Longshot’s friends enjoyed egging him on to greater and greater risks.

While Longshot is not yet recognized as an official member of FEAR by most of the tribe, his ties with Ammyth and his recent help with the battle at Jace's castle seem to suggest he may have been working in the shadows of FEAR under Ammyth's commands for some time now.

Longshot’s boyhood optimism has stayed with him and he is considered one of the more light hearted members of FEAR. As one of the few members with a childhood not marred by death or abandonment, Longshot does his best to see the good in every situation. Although he will look for the silver lining in anything and often takes actions with very poor odds, he never knowingly endangers friends or by standers. He understands when there is a time for action and chance and when it is time to stay put or retreat. Because of this, Longshot has sometimes become the voice of reason for the more impulsive members of FEAR.
