This isn't your typical anime, it isn't even your typical OVA-type anime.
This is a 7 episode series where episodes are typically a full hour long (one ep is 2 hours). This series gains critical acclaim because of its INTENSELY awesome visuals. Quite literally, this is one of the best looking animes of all time. The art is almost too good.
The music is epic as well.
...so, what about the story you say? Meh, didn't really do it for me. This feels a lot like an other anime I've seen as it deals with someone possessing the "eyes of death". The eyes of death allow you to see the death of anything.... so, basically, you see these jagged lines or faults in anything, and if you happen to have a bade and slash at those lines, yeah, you can kill it/shatter it/disperse it.
Basically there are three main characters, Shiki who used to have multiple personality disorder, but now has the eyes of death instead, some guy who likes her who basically is a nice guy all the time and tries to get people to stop killing each other all the time. Then some mage lady who kind of tells them what to do. Basically this mega mage shows up and commissions these ...er... supernatural destroyers to cause a ruckus in order to unfold the mystery of the cycle of life and death.
The series is full of death, murder, insanity, mutilation, intense fight scenes, graphic violence, and an epic score.
Don't believe me? Here's a standard fight scene:
It's too fast for youtube to show accurately... lots of frames missing. You get the picture.
Here's a mix of the kind of music you can expect to hear:
Now, after having said all that, if you want to see a nice piece of artwork, go ahead and watch this. Otherwise... I can't say I liked it all *that* much. I feel bad giving it less than 7 because it was presented so well.
7/10
