Back on subject are we ever going to have this tourney? I am willing to, but i think i would cause some massive lag living down under and all....
No, there aren't any others who are banned.
Your friend may have been very good with Sheik, but Sheik was definitely not unbeatable, and yes, Sheik is far worse now than before. The same can be said for Mario, Captain Falcon, etc.
The difference is that when played perfectly, there is no chance to beat Ice Climbers. Of course, perfect is impossible to pull off all the time. But literally, they can make a chain grab inescapable, plus they have a 100% success freeze glitch that will cause your opponent to be completely stationary until thrown. It requires no items, and is easy to do.

way to fail nintendo...

Another interesting thing is i asked my brothers (who use luigi and wario) which character won the brawl tournament that nintendo hosted in sydney a couple of years ago and they said it was wario and barely anyone used ice climbers. Perhaps people down under don't understand the full potential of the ice climbers?

Either that or it was a tournament where they do more than one on one.
In situations like that, if someone picks Ice Climbers they always get 3 on 1'd.
As for Wario, he's very good, incredibly dynamic in air. Probably the most dynamic in air in the game. I think I had to use Wario to clear the final event on hard. He's not invincible though.

Yeah it was a 4 player tournament so that explains why wolf, ice climbers, marth and rob were all neglected. Wario is an excellent character and luigi is also under rated (his fire punch when used correctly is a BITCH!) or perhaps my brother uses him well. It is hard for me to tell because they are basically the only people i play against.

I don't like Luigi because of how horribly he lags midair.
Also, not a fan of Wolf. Sure "wow he's like a strong Fox!" and all, but really, put him against someone like Pit who's hitboxes are all a distance from his body and he's basically useless.

I honestly pretty much ignore the left half of the char select screen, all mine are on the right.
I use marth, fox, and I'm going to work on Ice climbers now that I've seen what they can do.

I used to piss around as Kirby and Pikachu, mainly cause the people I played against couldn't grasp the concept of games.. Not played the Wii one yet. Conveniently, my missus has bought a black Wii. I may partake in a purchase of said game now.

Kirby is actually a lot better than he was in Melee surprisingly, Pikachu also. They're not quite as good as they were in the original, but they're quite strong.
In Brawl Pikachu is very fast, and received a massive power upgrade on his thunder attack. Literally, you can KO people with it now, people that you can't KO with a good smash. If you can get someone into the air, Pikachu can murder them. Combine that with Pikachu's up smash (one of the best uncharged smashes in the game for power/speed/damage) and you've got an embarrassingly deadly combo.
I love using Jiggily Puff too, perfect character to embarrass people with.
