My cousin used to be very much like what you described your first born to be like. Now he's older and had more support, he's enjoying life more and to the majority of the outside world, it seems as if he is just another kid getting through childhood. Yes, he has things he struggles to grasp the concept of (sarcasm being one) and he does have his frustrated moments, but he's learnt to deal with them and try to seek help on whatever he's having problems with.
Unfortunately, kids will allways pick on any weakness any kid has. I'm sure you can remember back at school when the kids with glasses/ fat kids/ poor kids etc got picked on for not being like everyone else. You just have to do your best to make sure your kid is proud of who he is.
I'm sure he'll grow up just fine and you'll have little to worry about. There are far worse things that could have happened, afterall.
