I'll grow the list gradually, if I feel like it. I'm not necessarily going to review all of these either. Just reminders...
Hey MSJ, can you sticky this at the top. Yeah...
Do you think you could break things out into good or okay and then completely terrible? I'm more concerned about buying/renting something that truly sucks than just getting something that's just okay.
Like, in this list, or just in general?

Because I have simple ratings out of 10 at the bottom of each review.
I guess maybe I'm more asking, what is out there a lot and promoted heavily, but really sucks? I don't want to get something that looks good (because it's packaged well and promoted) and find out it's terrible.
Death Note is well packaged/promoted and simply awesome
You threw in clone high, now thats classic.

That's hard to answer because almost noting is highly publicized where I'm from. You never hear about anime at all.

As far as I can tell the most hyped animes for the America's are:

Assorted kiddie stuff...
The Melancholy of Suzumia Haruhi
Witch Hunter Robin, maybe?
Ninja Scroll
Akira
And probably anything by Studio Ghibli (like Laputa, Nausicaa, Totoro, and Spirited Away)

Now, of those:
Witch Hunter Robin sucked horribly, at least the sub killed it.
Suzumia Haruhi is way over hyped, and is only decent, not amazing as many claim.
Akira isn't so great, and has way too big a fanbase for an anime that isn't all that good.

Then... Ninja Scroll, which is good, but isn't the *only* serious Ninja anime, contrary to popular belief.

Everything by Studio Ghibli *IS* good, so there's nothing to add there. Spirited Away *may* have been over-hyped, but only barely.
Roj, or anyone, know anything about Tokko? It seems to be similar in theme to Hellsing but I only watched a little bit of it and was wondering if it was worth pursuing further.
It looks good, but I haven't seen it.

Looks to be more serious than Hellsing.
