I wasn't expecting much from this movie if I'm honest (I'm really fussy about films), but I really quite enjoyed this. Its graphic novel roots are evident, and the effects and style are very good throughout. Some bits were a bit stupid though - like the monster Leonidas fights, the hunchback Spartan traitor, or the fact none of the Spartan warriors wear bloody armour!. All in all, a pretty good film - I probably preferred the older movie based on the same story, The 300 Spartans, as that has a bit more plot exposure, but both are good.
Well at least it was a good movie it picked.
Really enjoyed it.
My only regret is I saw it at a non IMAX Cinema.
Don't get caught up in all the anti hype. Enjoy it for what it is which is a good tale, great action scenes, (if not a little over done), great war film acting and above all, a moral tale for today's age.
As for the historical angle and the comparison against the old film, try to enjoy this one as a modern updated version not unknown for its up to date (and cgi'd) feel.
Its the sort of film which made me want to find out about the Spartans and this particular period. Sad of me? Maybe, but I don't mind, it was great fun.
Enjoy, I certainly did.
bots posting on in bot threads with standard botty posts...........
roj, call off you minions.
Eventually bots will be the only posts on abandoned message boards. Starting topics about blockbusters or old news, making semi-ambiguous replies to other bots based on keywords.
Someone should set up a forum just for the purposes of seeing how advanced the bots can get.
Most bots tend to just put links in their profiles and stay dormant.. The occasional bot creates a thread and stupid people reply in it. Oh wait..
Smarter bots figure out how to post, then try to put some kind of advertisement in active threads if they have something that fits their keywords.
While it is a bot, it does have some valid points regarding 300.....
