you're never too old to learn an instrument. It will be harder for sure then say if you were younger and you will need to dedicate some time every day to practice.
I tried learning piano 2 years ago and I was making some good progress...then ran out of time. I asked the same question then and found some guy who started learning the violin at the age of 45 and plays very well.
