Sometimes the old saying "you have to be cruel to be kind" goes off wrong -
I think it would have been better to 'convince' the guy he wasn't 'doing right' by her because of her age... get him to move on or stop moving...
..or you could have turned the guy in to the cops, or get social service for the girl--even letting her parents know if they didn't would be a step in the right direction. Name calling never helps and I doubt it was intentional on dbow's part - he probably spouted off in anger or something like everyone does at one time or another.
Either way you are going to look like a dick, but friends have to look out for friends--even if it ruins the friendship.
