So I finally got back into this and am right back to where I quit many months ago. The eighth level of the undead campaign: under the burning sky.

Must be THE hardest level in this game (many other forums agree).

I have to keep this one guy alive for 30 mins but he's summoning in the center of the map and i'm surrounded by 3 fully loaded armies/bases and I've only got a certain amount of money.

Been reading up a lot of strategies for this level since I've already failed multiple times using my own. Closest I got was down to 6 seconds!! no matter what, I couldn't save my ass for 6 seconds longer no matter how hard I tried.

Anyways, gonna try this out sometime next week but wanted to know if any of you guys have a good strat?
Is there any way to move--avoid your foe's -- make it a race where you get them following you instead of fighting them where you are surrounded? I remember a space game that allowed you to attack a planet and they sent vast numbers of ships out after you and if you ran you could fight the fastest units (those that caught up to you) one -or two at a time so you weren't overwhelmed it took a while (time IS your limitation from the sounds of it) but I would win huge fortunes by 'Dominating' the planets and then they would pay me as their 'ruler'. In the military we call it a 'fighting withdrawal'.
Since time is critical this tactic may work - even if you have to abandon some defenses or a base (unless that loses the game for you - I don't know the game in question), just an old gamers passing thought trying to help.
Good Luck.
Yea, MSJ that level sucks balls. It is by far the hardest level in the entire game and the most frustrating. It took me forever to beat it.

I'm trying to remember how I did. Towers. Yes. That's what I did. I built tons and tons of towers. And then had like 3 zealots or whatever they are called at each base just to repair them. I wound up having like 20 towers covering just the north entrance. Eventually all my bases were kind of linked by towers. After a little while I could build the big heavy fat guy units to help back everything up.

I know how frustrating it can be losing at 6 seconds. I lost with 2 seconds on the clock. I yelled at my computer in frustration before quitting.
@Nalot

Yeah, can't run on this level because your summoner is at the top of a hill and you have to defend him (he doesn't move). And the computer ONLY goes for this guy, so you have to put some good defense between him and the 3 armies coming at you.

@garla

The next strategy I want to try is lots of towers as you said plus lots of gargoyles. That way I can move my defenses around faster.

I also learned that in warcraft more is not better. I used to build a huge army that kept me in high upkeep...this time I'm going to keep my army size in low upkeep
Yea. I kind of don't like that about WC III. I liked making huge armies in StarCraft and the previous WC games.

Do you get any heroes for that level? I don't remember.
you get arthras

I think the upkeep thing adds a whole new level of strategy to the game. You actually have to build a balanced army and use every aspect of it as opposed to just mass building and attacking.
It never encouraged me to be strategic. Just kept me from ever wanting to build a big army because of the upkeep.
Oh that level was a pain, i dont remember how i beat it, its been years. But it is beatable.
Towers. It's how you beat every level like that in any warcraft or stracraft campaign.
So true.
