So, I have a baby cousin, she's 10.

Anyway, she wants to be an author and is mega into every book she can get her hands on, Archie Comics, horses, everything.

So I got to thinking "hey... I liked Archie comics when I was a baby too", then I got to DOUBLE thinking, hey! Why not manga?

So yeah, I want to get her what would be her first manga. Preferably a script intensive tankobon (full volume in one book).
Preferably as girly as possible, preferably with horseback riding, preferably targeted to little girls without any hint of adult themes. Remember, baby.
Preferably a un-Japanese culture intensive as possible. I don't want her to get all annoyed with puns that don't make any sense because they target a different language, or weird aunts who always want to make "auspicious occasion" food for their nieces.
Oh yeah, and as happy as possible, too many of the authentic stuff is about some girl who is about to die, or got a second chance after dying, or who's parents died and has to make her way to stardom. Yeah, freaking weird, I know. (See my rant about sad stuff).

Anyway, any suggestions?
Dagnabbit, after typing all this I think I know what I should get her.
Totally Spies... Dagnabbit...

Whatever, I'm posting it anyway for alternate suggestions.
I can think of nothing. Not a large fan of manga. Especially not a fan of girly manga. Despise Japanese culture intensive manga the most so I don't even know what to tell you to avoid.
Yeah, I figured not a lot of people here had 10 year old daughters.... I tried.... oh well.
Dbow might know something. He reads alot of manga. The most girly manda I know is Chobits, but it is culture intensive. Totally Spies sounds like a good call to me.
Chobits eh... never could get into that one.
That's not really "girly" as it "has a girl in it".
I have an eleven year old girl, she is sweet and lovable and not into any kind of comic books, but she likes puzzles from the 'find it in this picture' on the computer to the adventure games "SpyFox"... until she mastered them... now their 'childish'. As so many things become very quickly around that 10-12 age where they aren't ready to be teens and don't want to be children... I suggest you buy a carton of Marlboro's and a case of beer. Don't give her either, it's for you, and your sibling and his or her spouse who will ALL be needing them when she hits the teens. If you don't smoke it's OK, the carton will last you a day or two longer that way. If she drives you to murder you can trade them for all sorts of things in prison... they really do come in handy!
Luckily she's got 3 protective older brothers who only leave the gym when it's time to do battle.

Pokemon?
protective brothers are great when there is an outside threat... it's the girlchild herself that can REALLY create chaos-without even trying!-she can broadside you when you least expect it. I could tell you but I'm sure every angel is different and the troubles faced are varying from case to case. (case in point- my 11 year old with no make-up or 'frills' looks 18--in every way (and NO fellow FEAR members I will not be sharing any family photos) her older (by 5 years) brothers' friends have become an issue... and she's in 6th grade they are Jr's in highschool... Luckily for me she is still mostly clueless to much of it.)
I don't care how she looks, 11 is too young for any age of boy.
