I really don't get it...
It looks like he purposely headbutted the door.

That's pretty pathetic.
"Okay, the door's not working. What do I do?"
"I know, take a running start and try and bash it down, instead of asking someone for help or walking up to it and trying to trigger the sensor or pry open the doors with my hands!"

I think he's looking through his book to look busy to passerby's but meanwhile he's actually trying to figure out how to open the door.

Yeah, the book thing was clearly a diversion while he waited, but he didn't even try to get close to the door.
He gets no closer than 5 feet away, then decides to ram it.
It looks like that guy at the beginning told him it wasn't working or something... I dunno.
