As I was driving to work this morning I saw a street sign that shows a canadian geese with 2 baby geese behind her (watch for geese crossing) and I thought to myself "hmmm I'm sure you don't see that in other countries". This prompted me to post this thread so we can share small things that are common to us but probably weird or fascinating to tourists. What's a unique thing in your country? Not counting major landmarks or attractions.
Canada (Ottawa specifically) is also well known for the "beaver tail desert". Pretty much a deep fried pastry with some sweet topping like chocolate, maple syrup etc mmmmmm
i could comment on a lot of realy cool stuff but if i mentioned my county and region that would give me away

your IP is originating from the US (ohio)...that wouldn't give you away
The "beaver tail dessert" is known as an "elephant ear" or "funnel cake" to the rest of the world, just in case anyone actually thought it was specific to Canada.

Umm... don't know where you looked that up, but that's not right. The US part is, but not Ohio. I do know his actual state, city and even internet provider if you really want it.
As far as original stuff to you my country or region in this instance, we have fried green tomatoes, (which I've never had, and don't really care about finding out about) our accents are generally very distinct. I'm sure I can come up with several other unique things, but so much of American culture has been adopted by other countries, that its not exactly unique any more.
I love funnel cake. In Florida we eat alligator, usually fried. Pretty good. Um, to me Disney World is an everyday thing. It's only like 45 minutes from my house and my mom works there so I get in free.

Yeah I meant Wisconsin...woops
fried green tomatoes sounds pretty disgusting
We have a national health Service, aka free health for all woopa bitches!
Hate to tell you zaracassie, but it ain't free. Somebody's paying for it, probably you. They are just hiding the bill from you.
Wow Garla, I've only been to Disney World once... boy am I jealous of you!
Senator may have the twangy Southern Drawl, but I have the midwest accent myself. Here we're known for bratwurst (you pronounce it brawtwurst not bratwurst) and it's awesome. At our local baseball team games they have a brat bazooka and they shoot them into the air for the fans to grab. It's insane. We also have fantastic sweet corn and Door County produces quite a large percentage of the US cherry market.
