I kid you not, Mech Commander is now free of charge from the official website.

It is completely awesome, one of the best games I have ever played.

I'll have to grab those. I guess the first question would be, what's in Gold versus just 1 and 2? Is Gold both games combined already or what?

Gold is actually an expansion of Mech Commander 1.

It added a slew of new mechs and weapons.
Specifically the unique salvageable items really got expanded. Where the first game only had one unique weapon (a special LRM) Gold included lots of uniques like a "rail gun" which is a special gauss rifle that delivers a massive spike instead of a simple slug.

I think it even had unique sensor packs and whatnot.

So basically download all, or is 1 a full part of Gold already? I read something about it including 1.

I believe 1 is included in Gold.
