That's what I'm trying to figure out from burklert, as to which he is talking about. My book series, I'm not necessarily looking for major idea input, more of possible discussion or critique of what's already there. The goblin story, I will definitely be looking for major input on ideas from anyone here that wants to contribute.

Hmm, I can't really get into the goblin story.
Orcs/ogres/trolls just don't seem civilized enough to manage slaves.
Secondarily, if the general spends all day on the battlefield (battling...) that would insinuate some kind of war, or other campaign. If that were the case they'd be traveling, unless of course he was in some kind of guard troop at the edge of a piece of territory, in which case he'd have little need to be on the battlefield all day.
Just seems like something is missing.
Do you have a basic plot outline for what the story is set up to accomplish, or is it more of a slice of life type deal?

Its not supposed to really make sense. It just is. I explained why they are fighting. They just like to fight and a secondary world has kind of grown up around to battlefield to support the fighting to keep the orcs and ogres from fighting the humans. Look at it more as the battlefield is like an arena for gladiator style confrontation or something, just without the spectators, and that want to fight instead of being forced to fight.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I'm just explaining why I can't get into it.
I suppose that when something isn't blatantly silly I can't get around minor logic skews.

Basic question then. Do you like Douglas Adams? If no, then this storyline is probably not for you.

I've got the 5 Hitchhiker's Guide books, if that counts.

Okay, well that's the kind of story style I'll be going for. A loose plot with completely random things happening during the course of the plot line.

I guess the part that is throwing me off is that Gronk is still very much "in his element" at the moment.
...it might help if you gave him a segue out of his intro scenario.

Yeah, I realize nothing real interesting has happened yet, but I'm about to get there. Trying to build everything up a bit, before complete randomness starts happening.
