I just got the old punch-out for my wii (originally for nintendo). With the new game out I thought I'd go back to the roots and see how this game attracted such attention to itself. Afterall it's only a boxing game...what's so great about it?
Well I played through the first championship (3 opponents) and so far it's pretty good. At first it seemed way too easy for a veteran gamer as it's all about timing and noticing your opponents patterns. Honestly the opponents I played so far were ridiculously easy.
But then I hit this fat guy who seems to block all my attacks and uses an attack that to date is impossible for me to block! Oh what now!?
The gameplay is simple, you can block or dodge left and right. You can punch your opponent in the gut or in the head. The point of the game is noticing when your opponent will hit and to properly dodge and then quickly counter. Simple and fun.
I'll probably get around to trying out the snes version which I'm hoping will offer more diverse combos and stuff.
