When a few guys in Mexico caught the flu I was slammed with 2-3 weeks worth of WARNING, SWINE FLU!!! BEWARE THE FLU! ARE YOU SAFE!? ARE YOUR CHILDREN AND LOVED ONES SAFE??!! etc etc.
Now I heard a quick excerpt about north korea (didn't quite catch what it was)...after a bit of digging I found out they detonated another nuclear bomb (much more powerful this time). After more digging I found that they are ceasing the long standing truce with South Korea (which has stood for 50 years).
Now I'm happy that the media isn't blowing things out of proportion again but seems to me like they went from one end of the scale to the other...you'd figure a nation with what? the 5th largest army in the world getting ready for an inevitable war would catch a bit more media attention then this.
You'd think so, but people are morons and no one likes talking about North Korea.
Oh, the difference between a nuke and the swine flu:
The swine flu:
You may catch it if you lick someone with it.
If you catch it you will have the flu for a week, maybe.
It has the word "swine" in it.
Nukes:
It will get you if you're within its blast radius, no licking required.
If it "gets" you, you die, or suffer radiation poisoning, then you die, and possibly you may survive only to have your children afflicted by leukemia.
Doesn't have the word "swine" in it.

some people just report swine flu of being a bad cold, not even as bad as normal flu, it really depends on your medical status and how available medical treatment is to you that determines wether its deadly or not. Also the fact that if your able to realise if you have swine flu or not could help your likely hood of getting some medical treatment to help, but it might just not affect you to much either so its more deadly in developing countries more than anywhere else and how hygenic or lucky you are to avoid it. But it doesn't worry me to much, and i think its quite over rated in how much affect on the world it will have, no doubt it will do damage but i think alot of propaganda and publicity is making it sound worse than what it really is.
Nuke... if a nuke falls and your in its radius then your pretty much screwed, if not by the blast, heat wave then by the fall out what arrives soon after and the radiation what will last on the land for the next 100 odd years and if you've taking any radiation it. It would be a miracle to live a nuke let alone live with minor effect so a nuclear bomb is much more dangerous, but then you need someone willing and with the right authority and an actual nuclear bomb to be stupid and daring enough to ignore all deterances and just send the nuke.
