Everyone needs to watch Idiocracy.
Basically it's about the future where everyone's an idiot. It happened because smart people were too conscientious to have kids, but the retards and trailer trash kept having a million kids. Therefore, survival of the stupidest.
As for what the government is trying to shovel, most haven't gone into effect yet, but there's "green" cars, that are too expensive to manufacture and are subsidized slowly killing which ever manufacturer is producing them. Big government involvement there in the auto industry. Nice how if you just take them over with the government, you can simply mandate production policy to get what you want, then keep pumping in tax payer dollars to pay for it when its not profitable, complaining that we can't let the industry fail because too many jobs would be lost, yadda, yadda, yadda... When all they really care about it special interest groups.
You have a bunch of people bitching about how much energy we use and that we need clean energy. Nuclear is the cleanest energy out there, but no one wants that in there backyard. All those other "clean" sources like wind are insanely expensive to build to actually meet our energy needs and have there own issues and problems, but we'll just ignore those. People don't want wind turbines up in their backyards either. Power companies aren't willing to build newer more modern coal burning plants, because the government has there hands in the industry too much, and it just doesn't make economic sense for them to do so. There hasn't been a true power plant built in the US in over 20 years. Just small plants (that would not be as effective as a large scale plant) to bump production when demand gets high enough.
Then there's all the cap and trade garbage being thrown around, which is just another tax, to control certain industries and shift the money around to special interest groups. Anyone remember Obama's quote about bankrupting the coal industry?

Yea i remember that. Sounds like a terrible idea. But then he threw in alot of things in people ignored. Like how he wanted a homeland army as powerful as our army is now. Sounds alot like secret police to me.
