Not bad, I thought for sure he was going to begin his adventure by being launched in the catapult...way to throw off the reader.
Forcing him to walk in one direction just because he was commanded to helps keep the story comical and senseless.
The trick or sideline to the story will be that he can be asked/commanded, or request himself, to do something else along the way to keep from just walking and that's it. That would be a bit boring.
