So, nearby they are putting up this apartment building. A cement truck over there caught on fire. Our power here at worked blinked off several times before finally dropping out when apparently the fire got hot enough to burn up a power line, cutting it to fall and electrocute some guy. Now either through the outage blinks or all the power coming back, our server got fried a bit. Now we get to play the fun networking game of shifting files around on different computers to actually be able to work. Its such great fun. I also just found out, that my manager who had taken over from me dealing with the server backups, didn't ever re-setup our nightly incremental from last time we had a server issue. So we don't have a backup of files from the last month or so. YEAH!!!!
I'll end up being the one that has to fix all this shit and figure out work arounds until then...
I'm so happy that through this madness you take the time to come on the tavern and procrastinate
This reminds me....I wanted to back up the tavern database today! Almost forgot hehe

Oh man i feel that pain. As far as backups its seems alot of backup software is very touchie. We have to reset out software that backs our servers up every few months. Its annoying.
oh man, just remembered I have to back up the forums!!!
damn I forget easily, like frick I posted that I'd do it like an hour ago!
In our case it just wasn't reset, when I thought the other person had handled it.
And I wasn't procrastinating, there just wasn't anything I could at that moment. Did just get off the phone with Dell support and they are sending us a new drive to replace out in our RAID array in the server. Should be here tomorrow for me to replace. How exciting for me...
Its back up right now, so a full backup is going to be done tonight.
I think I set it up to do automatic backups MSJ. You should definitely double check that though.
two backups were done since the last crash (one by me)
and I just did the third

You just made very little sense to me because of your abbreviations.
And possibly to answer your question, we are a fairly small company, without a specific IT person, nor a large "IT" budget.
Sorry mate, i had an exam in this crud yesterday. I was kinda testing to see if you knew the lingo since your dealing with the issue!
bcp = business continuity plan
dr = disaster recovery
rr= remote replication
ups= unique power source
emc = pain in the ass company that created said course
