The Nintendo Wii has potential to steal your face, but what is it doing? Why does it have to be such a massive bitch as of late?
PS3 and 360 let you download free game demos from their shops, Wii doesn't. Why? I have no freaking idea. It makes no sense, half of the Wii games on the market cost like... 20 bucks and I've NEVER HEARD OF THEM BEFORE. Low key, potentially very good games, but they're getting a raw deal because no one wants to try them. Why? You may ask, because you can't try the game, or compare it to anything you've already played.
So, why, pray tell, does the PS3 have no problem letting you demo the first 3 races of some mind numbing Nascar game that plays out EXACTLY as you'd expect it to, while the Wii won't let you try Ooponage (or whatever) that sports a revolutionary control scheme and a new RPG style all together? What the hell.
Also, why can't Wii do the media server thing yet? Why doesn't it just support that? Ok, people have done homebrew to allow you to do so, but Nintendo isn't releasing anything. What the hell. If homebrew hacksters can make a media player for the Wii, Nintendo BETTER be able to. I severely doubt that the Wii would have any problems streaming MP3s or AVIs from a PC. Heck, the PS2 was powerful enough to do that and a freaking gamecube (which is IN the Wii) was more powerful than the PS2.
I don't know who's doing it, but someone is sabotaging the Wii from the inside, and I'm not liking it one bit.
Mario Kart and Smash Bros are two of the best games I have ever played, but SOMEHOW freaking Katamari Damacy is delaying it's Wii release because it wants to work the wiimote into the contorl scheme. Do a freaking PS2 port, honestly, just do it, I don't even want to use the wiimote for that game, so just let me play that freaking game already.
The DS is ASTOUNDINGLY successful. It is destroying every other console put together. Let's compare:
Revolutionary Control System - Wii and DS
Nintendo Franchise Games - Wii and DS
Has about a million low budget games - Wii and DS
Has the most revolutionary games - Wii and DS
Lets you demo games for free - DS
Has a legitimate media player (non-retarded browser hack) - DS
Has good internet play options - DS
Is the best selling console of all time while supporting the largest non-PC game library ever - DS
Has developers BEGGING to release the newest, best made, thoroughly thought through games INCLUDING a staggering library of non-bastardized RPGs, sports games, platformers, personal trainers, language assistants, and even cookbooks - *cough* D-mcFreakin-S, bitch
So, Wii, what's your latest mistake? Not learning from your staggering success in the DS? Yes.
That brings me to another interesting point. Why did the Wii bastardize internet play? Did it HAVE to sabotage the expanse of options available to multiplayer matches in Brawl? Did it HAVE to? Did it have to KILL the battle mode in Mario Kart and make it into a retarded, boring "lets be as gay as possible" mode?
In summary, it better make some changes damn fast or I'm getting a 360.
