This isn't an anime, but a manga instead. (Maybe we need another review section)
I went searching for something that was a completed series to read through. This one came up as one of the most popular ones on the site (listed somewhere else on these forums). I'm glad I checked it out.
The manga is basically the Japanese take on American football. If you don't football it may not be enjoyable for you. The series is really large with 333 books of about 17-18 pages each. It took a while to get through the whole series.
The story revolves around Sena, who has been a goofer all his life. He is just starting high school and gets recruited to join the football team. The story build off of gaining new members and learning new abilities or plays to defeat the next opponent.
Having watched football pretty much all my life, it was amusing to read about these players "powering up" themselves by learning new tackle techniques or running moves, or even learning about the rules like what a safety is.
There are a few parts where the rules of football aren't applied correctly, but overall it's pretty accurate there. I wasn't as excited about the very end of the story, but it was statisfactory and wrapped everything up pretty well.
I would recommend this one to anyone who likes a good story and American football.
